Halima - How to Stay Strong

Halima, a young Somali woman living in Germany,underwent an operation to reconstruct her vulva after female genital mutilation. On her journey home on the train, she talks about her strategy on staying strong. It's a story about the impact of womens rights violations,theracist systemin Germany, being a refugee as a woman, but most of all of her strength. The participatory docu-fiction was producedwith five Somali women who had suffered from FGM/C, as experts on their life and perspective in screenwriting, on set and in postproduction. Halima is a collective figure, representing their biography, struggle and point of view.
