No Mothertongue for Everyone

Growing up with her non-verbal brother with a developmental disability, Jinhyun navigates an affection marked by shame and a closeness shaped by distance. Her journey spans institutions in Korea, Japan, Germany, and the UK, mapping the vague contours of isolation. The camera doesn’t enter inside; it stays at the threshold, gathering the sensory residue of control. Trains stitch these fractured landscapes, arriving into night—where language dissolves, and whatremains is felt, not said. This is a film for all that could not become words.
